Skin Applications
Pure or diluted preparations for topical application
The aromatic preparations for topical application, usually consist in essential oil synergies diluted in vegetable oils, also called carriers. Sweet almond and grapeseed are some examples of those carrier oils. Depending on the clinical case, the aromatic synergy for topical application can vary in percentage of dilution, therefore, it is necessary to know how to blend essential oils, to achieve the aimed therapeutic action. In certain cases, the oils can also be applied neat, as a single oil or as an undiluted synergy.
Massage
The massage with essential oils, besides being extremely pleasant, can be a very effective choice for the treatment of certain pathologies related to the physical, emotional and psychological fields. Emotional unbalances like stress or anxiety and symptoms related to pain or muscular tension, can benefit enormously from this practice and from the pharmacological properties of certain essential oils.
A considerable relief is experienced since the first session and, after some treatments, a total reestablishment can be achieved.
Besides clinical purposes, aromatic massage is also frequently required just for pleasure, as compensation for a hard day at work or as a gift offered to a beloved one.

Inhalation
The inhalation of preparations of essential oils can be particularly beneficial when dealing with infections related to the respiratory system, but also as a complement to treatments of the psychological and emotional spheres. Besides the mentioned reasons, the diffusion of essential oils can also be for room fragrancing purposes or for creating a certain room ambiance. There are many choices regarding the diffusion and inhalation methods. Usually, the preparations consist in a blend of several undiluted essential oils, but a single essential oil can be used as well.
Diffusion
The atmospheric diffusion of essential oils drastically reduces the presence of microorganisms in the air. This method is specially useful in spaces where sick individuals stay or go for treatments. The diffusion of essential oils in buildings and rooms, is also a very effective way of keeping fungal infestations under control.
Diffusers can also be used for: stimulating concentration and alert, in working spaces; diffusion in commercial spaces, using customized synergies created to identify the company/label; diffusion of synergies in restaurants to neutralize the kitchen smells or simply to create pleasant ambiances; diffusion of synergies specially created for thematic meals or events; diffusion of synergies for insomnia; for creating romantic ambiances; etc.
The diffusers should not use heat for the diffusion process. A cold diffuser will preserve the integrity and quality of the essential oils, allowing us to fully benefit from their action. The famous "burners" or "lamp rings" are, therefore, unadvisable, as they expose essential oils to extremely high temperatures, hence affecting their beneficial action.

Ingestion - Oral intake
It is never too much to remind that, for all usages, but mainly for internal application, essential oils should be of highest quality and chemotyped. This is a fundamental rule for achieving the best therapeutic results and minimize the risk of undesired effects. This administration way should only be attempted under professional supervision.
Sub-lingual
This is a very interesting way of administration, due to the high vascularization in this area as well as the promptness in absorption and consequent quick action of the active principals. It is of major importance to use chemotyped essential oils that don't cause sensitization in these delicate tissues. The treatments can consist in single oils or synergies, pure or diluted in vegetable oils, honey, maple syrup, or other dispersants.
Hard Gelatin Capsule
The hard gelatin capsule consists of a cylindric base and a shorter cap which fits firmly over the base, to enclose the aromatic preparation. In this case, the synergy of essential oils should be carried by a powder excipient. The main advantage of using this administration method is that the hard capsule, in a gastric environment, resists to the pH and enzyme action throughout several hours, starting to disintegrate later, in the intestine, where the pH no longer threatens the integrity of essential oils. This administration way can also be used by individuals with stomach sensibility or as a protection from the repeated action of essential oils. Nevertheless, this way of administration can be slower than other options, regarding the medicine delivery aspect.
