How should I store my oils's to preserve their quality?
Direct light and heat deteriorate essential oils.
The best way to preserve your oils is to keep them in a dark, ambar or blue glass container, to protect them from light.
They also should be kept away from direct sun light and heat sources.
Citrus oils are more prone to oxidation, therefore, when dealing with big quantities, it is advisable to transfer them into smaller containers, as the bottle gets to half. Citrus essences are not distilled, but rather obtained by mechanical expression processes, for this reason, their shelf life is shorter than distilled essential oils (around 2 years for citrus).
Essential oils should never be stored in plastic containers, as the essential oil will end up reacting with the container and also get contaminated by toxic molecules released by the plastic.
The glass containers should always have a dropper barrier, preventing this way possible azardous accidents. The lid should be screwed tightly, to avoid the evaporation of this precious but extremely volatile substances.
Other safety rules:
keep away from the reach of small children; always label the containers with adequate identification and information; always have a dropper barrier to avoid undesirable episodes, like accidental ingestion or unnecessary essential oil lost.
